Amazing jacket, it’s so hot it’s like wrapping yourself in a radiator. Good price and top service from Varuste too.

I recently purchased this jacket as i needed something a lot tougher than my quilted jackets i normally use. I am 100% happy with this purchase, it keeps me warm and dry, is fully adjustable and has multiple pockets for my gear that needs to stay with me. When not in use this jacket can be put away in its own bag which is a great idea, the long wet Irish winters wont seem so harsh with this piece of kit.

I do not even know where to start! Between Varuste's 10/10 customer service AND shipping (which took a little less than 2 weeks, impressive!) or the quality of the Carinthia MIG 4.0 I only have good things to say all around. The shipping was excellent considering I was given a tracking number as soon as the jacket shipped. The shipping was from Finland obviously, to me in the U.S.A. overall took less than 2 weeks which is quite impressive all things considered. Now the jacket itself is awesome, I took it out to the Rocky mountains the next day and boy it me warm with an extra couple layers in what was essentially negative temperatures! My wife and I were completely enamoured with the amount of pockets the MIG 4.0 has. Overall between the customer service, shipping, and product quality I wish I could give a rating higher than 5 stars because this was the most stress free international order I had ever done! You guys rock Varuste!

I have ordered XXL size. MIG 4.0 Jacket with a nice discount. The jacket is ok, and the material is high quality but the jacket looks and feels a bit bulky... I was trying it in the shooting range, so lying on the ground was nice and comfortable. When worn on at -15 you need a few layers to feel comfortable. Now I wear it at -5-0 at that temperature it's just perfect. Missing some pockets, a few more would be beneficial. Also, a waist regulation strap or string would be a nice upgrade to control the bulkiness of the waistline.

Excellent winter jacket. Practical and stows away easy. For reference, I am 181cm tall, 86kg, chest 110cm and took the XL. It is a bit loose with just a t-shirt and the sleeves are long. If you wear a thicker midlayer under it, it will fit better, so for subzero temperatures it is perfect.

This product exceeded expectations! It handles wind and winter cold perfectly. I have used it up to -20 degrees Celsius with just an undershirt and below -10 degrees a t-shirt is enough. You don't even feel that it's cold. Added to this is a good functional design with pockets and buckle straps and it feels like it is solidly produced down to the smallest detail. I think it is the definition of value for money and I am very pleased!

Just perfect fit and the overal quality are great. Would recommend.

Very impressed with the jacket. Even the packaging and stash bag were cool touches. Great fit and you get a sense of how robust it is. I am 5'10 fairly slim with a 32in waist and the jacket is bang on! Looking forward to putting it through its paces. Was a little unsure about choosing grey but it looks cool. I like old things and was sad to say goodbye to my previous jacket. Hoping for a long and fruitful relationship with this MIG 4.O. The things stated in the product description are very true. I got the jacket as a winter jacket and it has worked really well as such. When it's a few degrees below zero, I can do well even if I just put a t-shirt under the jacket, and even at -10 degrees, I don't need anything less than a long-sleeved merino underwear. A high collar is good in winter and it's not too constricting. Combined with a tube collar, I can create a combo that makes it easy to regulate body temperature. If you like the jacket to have pockets in "traditional places", i.e. down the front, this is not the jacket for you. The pockets (really big and deep ones) are at the pectoral muscles, but once you get used to them, they're actually really good. The small pockets on the sleeves give their own place for small things, a nessuspacket, cards, keys, etc., which you still need and which would otherwise be rolling around in the pockets of jeans and taking up space. Some user reviews have mentioned that the main zipper of the jacket is surprisingly light for such a sturdy jacket. I have to admit that I have been thinking exactly the same thing myself, it affects the weakest link of the jacket, but of course you will only know this when you accumulate more years of use. If you like to express to the world your value, your blood group or your worldview, there are large places for stickers on both sleeves. When purchased, they are protected by Carinthia's own logo stickers. I have been satisfied with the jacket.

This jacket is made for use and not for decoration. It's very accurate at -25 below freezing when you throw a sweater underneath. I would give a full 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive.

Good jacket. I've only had it for a couple of weeks and have yet to test it in severe frosts, but it feels warm. Can also be used in zero coils, if you don't put too much underneath. The jacket is light, does not restrict movement, does not rub, but is warm. For these reasons, you always choose from the coat rack. I am 182cm/ 95kg and XL is suitable for me.

A perfect jacket if the zipper was solid brass, like some of Alpha's US Army field jackets back in the day. Now this Carinthian space age jacket has been ruined by attaching some diarrhea tuning that remotely resembles a zipper! This zipper is the first to fail in this jacket and the result is the death of the undersigned from frostbite in some roadless corner. But of course it will overcome vascular dementia or ethanol poisoning as the initiating force of my exit... Otherwise, the jacket is in good condition and there are plenty of adjustment possibilities.

Quite an insanely good jacket. Warm, but even warmer can be regulated with ventilation. However, it is clearly designed for severe frosts and a small downside to the hustle and bustle.

Perfect jacket for cold conditions. Very comfortable and warm, lightweight and durable. Allows good range of motion and is a good product to wear whilst moving and working.

Based on short use, an excellent purchase, a warm, practical-looking and practical winter jacket. Almost too warm for zero temperatures.

This time I bought an XL size, I've decided to keep it. It fits snug with a bit of wiggle room. I'm generously proportioned at the front, think huggable. I can managed to fit a merino hoodie and still have some room. The downsides are still the noisy materials, and now, the sleeve pockets are really annoying. The sleeve length is a bit weird, so the pockets dig into my elbow. If I pull the sleeve up or down, kinda solves the problem. Most likely will not use those pockets, so a pocketless version would be great! The upsides: it's warm. I was testing it in -10/-14C the other night. I was walking, so some activity, and it was quite toasty. Haven't done a static temp test, maybe when it gets colder again. Overall, I really wish there was a size in between XL and XXL for this jacket. The XXL was great if you wore an insulating jacket underneath but otherwise was way to big. The XL is just a little small. I'm not sure about these pockets, maybe they'll break in over time? I bet they're super useful, but being a civilian, I might have to try and find a use for them. The separate hood and collar is great, I get all the warmth around the neck and none of the awkward from the hood. However, if you wear a hoodie underneath, it'll be awkward. Yet to test the water resistance, I might spray it with a coating if there is more snow.

I searched for a carinthia mig 4 in medium as I couldn't find any in the UK I found this site and glad I did a fantastic company highly recommended the jacket is amazing I have owned a mig 2 for 10 years as good now as ever but the mig 4 has a lot of differences tough patches on the shoulders and elbows it's so light and warm perfect for the winter highly highly recommended 👍

The jacket is completely windproof. I couldn't feel a single thing in a heavy wind breeze. It is also waterproof because the water doesn't stick to the material and just falls off. On top of all, the jacket is very comfortable and warm even in colder temperatures. The hoodie of the jacket is adjustable and the pockets are big and insulated so you can keep your things or hands in it.

High quality jacket.

As a professional Outdoor guide I only choose the best equipments for myself and my team. The MIG4.0 is a magnificent piece of equipment. Very warm, but not impossible to wear here in the mild-climate of Portugal, impressibly waterproof, very comfortable and also very stylish, if that is something you consider important. Im 185cm tall, 101kg, and the XL fits perfect with room for a mid-layer.

The jacket is of a quality of construction and materials is excellent. It is very warm, but it is true that in my country (Spain) it is not as cold as in the north. It weighs little and comes with a compression bag to store it and take up less space. I don't know how it works in the rain because I haven't had a chance to test it in those conditions yet. Regarding the size, it has been very good for me. I thought that the hood could be removed from the jacket or kept in the collar but it is not. Very satisfied.

Warm at least in motion -20c. Keeps the wind, packs in a small space (comes with a packing bag). The fabric holds the sound, so not the best option for a sneak peek.

Warm. Made more in good condition than in middle-aged ones. The XL size works for 185 inches, but the sleeves are a bit long. L size again otherwise good, but the abdomen begins to tighten first. Usually from manufacturer L.

Absolutely super good jacket. -5c weather below is enough for a submarine shirt and -15c windy weather for a thermal layer good below. Good adjustments and pockets. Well adjustable cords everywhere for the jacket too.

Really high quality synthetic quilted jacket. After about a month of active use, I have been able to state that this jacket works even in the small frosts without a t-shirt under either, even if it doesn't move more terribly, but also in really hard frosts if you just keep moving. The cross-country skiing rapia in the 30-degree frost made me sweat. With normal winter lingerie, I could say that it’s -15 or even -20 for this jacket, on average, for the average male wearer, a comfort temperature with normal light winter activities. Versatile pockets and vents in the armpits, high-quality materials and a good work result are a big plus. Also a lightweight quilted padded jacket. The compression bag is a nice accessory. Practically the perfect winter jacket for my own general use.

Excellent quality, practical, robust and warm in all conditions

Tl;dr: overall a good jacket, warm, comfy and has many good features. Unfortunately, XXL is almost one size bigger compared to ESG in XXL. Makes a lot of noise. Check fit before committing. Firstly, the jacket is super comfortable and very warm. So far only tested it to -5°C and I was quite toasty. Quite a lot of features built in, not sure if I'd use them all. Unfortunately, it was a little bit big for me when I wore the MIG jacket without anything between the jacket and my tshirt. I bought XXL, I'm 185cm and about 115kg, so there is a need for circumference. I understand that it's part of a system and designed to have layers underneath, but it's almost one size up. For example, the sleeves too long for me. My elbows are above where the elbow reinforcements are. In comparison, the Carinthia ESG jacket in XXL fits perfectly. I did try the ESG as an inner layer of the MIG 4.0. And that works so well! Except for the hood collar sectoon, not able to properly zip up the MIG. There is plenty of space in the MIG to fit the ESG and the jacket doesn't restrict anything (except the collar). The arms also shorten and align better with the ESG inside. However, this combo pushes the warmth to another level, which I'm not looking for in this jacket. I will try a smaller size and see how that goes. Also, the noise, it's loud. Best to try it out with a few layers and without layers to see how it works for you!
