A sturdy compass. Very different functions (such as a magnifying glass, scale conversions, a clever loop for attaching a string, a lightly rotating needle, etc.) and a provision for accessories in this place. When a disaster strikes and the GPS crashes, this works as an "orientation aid" on a longer journey and the compass can help, for example, in lighting a campfire (magnifying glass) if necessary.
I myself have had several compasses in my life and the previous Suunto fell, a centimeter too high, and the base plate broke. However, it has withstood years of camping use and countless bumps and drops! Suunto's price-quality ratio has always been great, and that's why this new compass is also Suunto! Now just hard use and this will make a "buddy" for off-road trips for years.
The compass also comes with comprehensive instructions on taking direction with the compass and using other features. Of course, if you've never used a tile compass, the internet or someone who can give you advice! It is also worth taking over the use of the map at your leisure and well in advance of your first map hike!

The compass itself is a good basic compass. 3 stars, because the rope meant to strangle me by getting stuck in a tree right away on my first trip. There were no instructions for tying the rope, there came a black nipple that should have been understood to be put in place somewhere. I replaced the compass cord with the office cord and now it comes off the neck if it gets stuck somewhere.
