They require a light run-in like hiking boots, but fit quite well after that and don’t rub. I bought one size bigger to go with two thicker socks. The legs have so far remained warm in the twenty degrees of frost. The arms are sturdy enough for varying terrain and downhill. The use of gaiters is recommended when skiing a lot of a closed project. For multi-day ski trips, I would prefer models with a detachable lap to get it dry faster, with limited drying options. Goes just fine as long as there are replacement socks.
